Part of Me I breathe in But the air Is ripped from my throat Gravity pulls stronger My head pounds I lose control of my limbs They move without my say My face is taught I try to conceal the fear Of nothing Sew my eyes shut Ring the bells in my ears What am I without the feeling How do I live without shaking Lingering aching A feroshus being of my being The waves rip open my stomach Until they crash down consistently Then constantly Blood pulsing My fingers dance with the throbbing My knees are weak I fall It’s all I've ever known It is part of me -Aubrey Hurst (11) Uncertainty” By Noah Pedersen (12) There is no sun burning bright; No moon to watch the streets at night. And who's to say what exists beyond the light Not the knowledge keepers Who’s minds were lost to uncertain sight. Facts, and logic are all that can be seen through Cold stone eyes. Life, and death Day, and night Hurtful truth, And scarring lies. I have chosen my path! Far away from the forest of truth Far from the shores of the seas of lies There is an ancient castle. The kingdom awaits Open the gates... The king has returned “im always here” You tell me you are fine But you’re not You say you’ll tell me if something’s wrong But you won’t Some people need help but don’t want it Is that you? You just want it to stop The hurt, the pain, the fake friends, the excuses Please talk to me You don’t need to explain But you do need to answer I thought we were close enough That you could tell me anything I was wrong You push away the people closest to you So you won’t get hurt again It’s hard to believe when people say they’ll be there And then they’re not You have to look past that Find what is real in life The true friends who are there for you Every step of the way The people who won’t give up on you No. Matter. What. There are the right people out there You just have to be willing to look for them Rebecca Merchiore (9) Nick As the clock in the corner of my computer screen hits 10:30 am I stand up from my cubicle, put on my jacket and start to head towards my coworker and good friend Denise, she turns to face me. “Breaktime already nick?’ I quickly nod looking around a bit frantically. “Neise, have you seen her?” She giggles at my antics before turning back to her desk and answering in a patronizing voice. “Why no Nicholas I haven't seen she who shall not be named.” I let out a sigh, and flick the back of her head lightly before walking towards the breakroom. “ Have a nice lunch Nick~” I hear her say behind me as I close the break room door behind me, I head to the fridge and pull my red lunchbox from the back. As I grab my soda from the fridge door I hear the break room door open and shut behind me as an all too familiar voice rings out from behind me and instantly every fiber of my body tense. “Mr. Hallenday would you mind coming and having a chat with me?” Shaking I stood up and walked over feeling sweat bead up on my brow. “Yes, ma’am of course.” I said in a shaky voice as I sat down at the break room table with her. “Mr. Hallenday relax, it’s not like I'm firing you, I just want to talk.” -Anonymous Abby Howe (12)
